Pakistan has introduced its first healthcare AI chatbot, the “Heart Line Chatbot,” aimed at supporting patients with hypertension. The announcement was made during the 27th Annual Conference of the Pakistan Hypertension League (PHL). This innovative tool is part of the Discovering Hypertension project and is set to benefit 32.5 million people in the country suffering from high blood pressure by providing crucial information and treatment guidance.
Managing hypertension remains a significant challenge in Pakistan, where only 11% of individuals with the condition effectively control it. Experts, including Prof. Fawad Farooq from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), have lauded the chatbot’s potential to help patients. Prof. Farooq noted that the AI tool is a breakthrough, offering hypertensive patients immediate access to vital information on managing their condition.

The Heart Line Chatbot aims to assist both patients and doctors by educating users on how to control blood pressure through proper lifestyle choices and medication. Users can access the service by sending a message to the chatbot via WhatsApp at 0334-7777996. Plans are in place to expand its functionality, including directing users to nearby clinics and specialists for further treatment and management of hypertension.
Given the rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases in Pakistan, digital solutions like the Heart Line Chatbot represent a significant step forward in addressing these health challenges.
